Charlie Sheen was nearly Spider-man

Charlie Sheen recently revealed that he was almost among Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as one of the faces of Spider-man, once upon a time.

“I had an office at Orion at the time, and I brought them Spider-Man,” Sheen told Jay Mohr on the latest episode of his podcast Mohr Stories. “I said, ‘Look, in a couple of years, I’ll be too old to play Peter Parker.’ And they said, ‘Yeah, we’re just thinking that cartoons are not the future, comic books are not the future.’ And I said, ‘But it’s Spider-Man, I’m perfect.’ And they were like, ‘Nah, we’re gonna wait.’”

But did Sheen really have the rights to the character? According to him, it didn’t matter. “I had a guy in my pocket who was going to get them for me,” he said. As for Orion, the actor added, “They didn’t know s***.”

Of course, it wasn’t Charlie, but his father Martin Sheen, who would finally make it into the franchise as Uncle Ben in this year’s reboot.

Resident Evil: Retribution trailer unleashed

The fifth movie in the Resident Evil series is on the way this September and set to fully flesh-out the RE universe by bringing back a number of main characters, as well as introducing some new ones.

Alice (Milla Jovovich) will make her return in Resident Evil: Retribution, along with Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), Rain Ocampo (Michelle Rodriguez), and Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts) to name a few.

The premise surrounds the global spread of Umbrella’s T-Virus, and Alice’s resolution to hunt down and kill those responsible, once and for all.

Man of Steel teaser marks Superman’s return

Directed by 300′s Zack Snyder, and starring Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe and Amy Adams, Man of Steel is attempting to reboot the Superman series on the big-screen.

The latest teaser sets the stage for a more grounded and humanistic telling of the famous Kryptonian.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D trailer

While not a monumental hit, the first Silent Hill movie was appreciated by fans for sticking to the source material and delivering a frightening live-action portrayal of the uber-creepy town.

The long-awaited sequel is now on its way, set for an October release.

Based on the third game, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D will follow Heather Mason, who discovers that she isn’t who she thought she was, then finds herself pulled into the town/alternate dimension of Silent Hill.

Snoop Dog has reported that his next album will see him tackle the reggae genre and change his stage name from Snoop Dog, to Snoop Lion.

The album, Reincarnated, is due out later this year.

This is probably a publicity stunt…. The validity of this report is shakey at best.

Gaslight Anthem Release New Single

Jersey punks the Gaslight Anthem return on July 24th with their new record, Handwritten, out on Mercury. You’ve already heard the anthemic first single “45,” and now you can check out “Teenage Rebellion,” a gorgeous acoustic track available as an iTunes exclusive that finds frontman Brian Fallon warbling, wavering and straining as he sings a simple paean to young lost love: “And if you’re gonna break my heart/ It might as well be tonight.”

It doesn’t so much tug at your heart strings as it shreds them to bits, and that’s a good thing. “When you’re a teenager it might as well be a dream,” says Fallon. “The person you become is entirely affected by those years, yet never resembles the person you were.”

The song is featured on the groups latest album, Handwritten due out July 24 (today!).
