Contagion writer to pen Apes 2

Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Informant!) has just been brought on to pen the screenplay for Fox’s sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Apes 2 will take the Rise story to the next level, with the apes poised to usurp humanity as Earth’s supreme rulers. Given the first film’s wild success at the box office, the studio was quick to lock down the film’s star Andy Serkis for another go as Caesar. Likewise, director Rupert Wyatt is confirmed to return for the followup.
Original writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa were also brought back to write a draft of the sequel.
